Additional Information for Woodwind
1997 Hanoverian Sport Horse Mare
Woodwind is a 10 year old, 16.0 Hand , Hanoverian Sport Horse mare out of Wedgewood. She is a large boned, solid mare with accompanying muscle mass that is very athletic in movement. She is very people friendly and has no vices. She has been raised by us from day one. She loves people and actually seeks them out. She would always be the only horse to follow us from the pastures all the way back to the barns. She is extremely well-behaved on the ground as well as under saddle.
Her sire is a Hanoverian stallion named: Wedgewood.:
1987 Gray Hanoverian Stallion
(Waldhorn, Waidmannsdank xx, Gotthard)
out of Domonique
(Dueker, Duellant, Lombard)
Wedgewood is owned by Mary Brandes-Dearden and, as she says on her website, "Although he is a beautiful jumper, his true talent was in dressage. With a free shoulder, elastic hocks, and an exceptional willingness to please, he was an incredible horse to ride. Due to an injury, his career was cut short. He was retired from riding in 1998. He now spends his days next to two of his favorite mares. Wedgewood passes on his wonderful movement to all his offspring."
Kim and I certainly agree with that as it has been born out in many of the progeny we have been fortunate to raise, including Woodwind.
Her dam, Duma, was a 16.1 Hand, Bay, 7/8 Hanoverian mare. We leased her for the one breeding in 1996, so we do not know more about her.
Woodwind has been schooled in dressage and has excelled in her ability to do lateral work. She has been trail ridden extensively where she is level-headed about anything you want to do. She is happy to take jumps.
This mare has the potential to become a winning partner in any riding endeavor.
